Manhattan Beach is a hot spot for surfing, body surfing, or boogie boarding. This long sandy beach is where rock'n'roll's famous Beach Boys found the inspiration for their surf music. The waters at Manhattan Beach are good for swimming, diving, surfing, and fishing. The Manhattan pier has the Oceanographic Teaching Station, which is equipped with a marine lab and aquarium. From the pier you can look out through the telescopes and get excellent views of Palos Verdes, Catalina, and the northern beaches. If you are lucky, you'll see dolphins pass by.
